Every time a visitor chats with your widget, HyperHelp records the conversation. You can review what visitors are asking, see which pages they were on, and export the data for your CRM or team.
Viewing conversations#
Navigate to Widget Conversations in your chatbot's sidebar to see all widget conversations.
The conversation list shows:

| Page URL | The page the visitor was on when they opened the widget. |
| Visitor | The visitor's name (from lead capture) or "Anonymous". |
| Messages | Number of messages in the conversation. |
| Activity | When the last message was sent. |
Use the search bar and filters to narrow results by page URL, message count, or date range.
Conversation detail#
Click any conversation to open the full chat history. You'll see:
- The complete message thread — visitor questions and bot responses in order.
- Source citations — if enabled, each bot response shows which pages were used to generate the answer.
- Lead card — if the visitor submitted a lead form, their details appear alongside the conversation with all captured fields and the submission timestamp.
Exporting conversations#
Export your conversations to work with them outside HyperHelp:
- From the conversation list, click Export.
- Choose your format: XLSX (Excel) or CSV.
- The export runs in the background. You'll get a download link when it's ready.
Exports include conversation metadata, messages, and lead data (if collected).
Tip: Regular exports are a great way to feed visitor questions into your product roadmap or content strategy. If visitors keep asking the same thing, your docs might need a dedicated page — or a Q&A entry.
Usage tracking#
The conversation list shows your widget conversation usage for the current month — how many conversations have been started out of your plan's monthly allowance.
Conversation credits are shared across all chatbots in your organization. If you have 3 chatbots, they all draw from the same monthly pool.

Retention and cleanup#
Conversation retention follows your organization’s current plan.
- Starter keeps data for 30 days
- Growth keeps data for 180 days
- Pro keeps data for 360 days
Lead-capture records tied to widget conversations follow the same retention policy.
When a conversation is cleaned up, it is soft-deleted first and permanently removed later by the scheduled purge job.
